Healthy Eating Explained

What is healthy eating? What determines what is healthy and what isn't? What foods are healthy and unhealthy? What does a healthy meal really look like?

The answers to these questions are likely going to shock you, or at least surprise you. Let's dig into it.

The first thing we need to do is determine what makes a particular food healthy or unhealthy.

I've done a ton of research into this topic and I've come to the conclusion that the most important thing to look at in a particular food is whether the food has an alkaline (basic) or acidic affect in your body. This is more important for example than concerning yourself with how much fat, calories or cholesterol is in the food.

Have you ever asked yourself, "how come this person got sick but this other person didn't when they've both been exposed to a bacteria or virus?" Well basically it comes down tothe pH Scale whether your body is alkaline or acidic. According to the author of The pH Miracle, Robert Young, keeping your body alkaline will not only prevent you from getting sick, but also prevent most diseases and illnesses found on planet earth including cancer, heart disease and diabetes. An alkaline body is the ultimate immunity.

Bacteria and viruses can't live in an alkaline body.

The level of acidity or alkalinity is measured by your pH levels, pH stands for potential hydrogen. As you can see from the diagram on the right, pH levels range from 0 to 14. 0 is the most acidic and 14 is the most alkaline. The pH level for optimal health is slightly alkaline at 7.46 pH. You can easily test the pH level of your body by peeing on to litmus paper. The litmus paper will turn a certain color, which you need to compare to the chart that comes with the the litmus paper to determine your body's pH level.

It's recommended that if you have a serious illness that you go with a 100% alkaline diet, at least until you've sufficiently healed. If you're reasonably healthy, 80% alkaline foods and 20% acidic foods is ok.

Celebrities Tony Robbins (world renown motivational speaker) and Randy Couture (UFC Legend) both follow an alkaline diet. Who knows, maybe following an alkaline diet has something to do with Tony's seemingly endless energy, and why Randy is still fighting at the age of 47.

This answers the question of how do we define what foods are healthy and unhealthy. The answer is foods that are healthy foods are those that make our body more alkaline or basic, and unhealthy foods are those that make our body more acidic.

So now that we know that consuming alkaline foods is what constitutes healthy eating, we now need to know what foods are alkaline and which are acidic.
